When you have a business page on Facebook and you want to promote the fans advertising can be effective. However, by default when you set up a Facebook Ad and somebody clicks on this ad you are brought directly to the Facebook wall. We all know that calls to action are important and you really need to tell people what you need them to do. Facebook provides a feature called a welcome page. It’s an additional tab on your Facebook page that you can set up to be displayed as the default page for non fans. On this welcome page you can try to convince people to click on the like button to become a fan.As soon as the visitor becomes a fan they are then brought directly to the wall for any future visits. The process for setting up a welcome page is as follows.Install the application Static FBMLa). On your page select ‘edit page’ on the left hand sideb). Scroll down to the end under the ‘more applications’ menu select the application ‘static fbml’c). On the next page click ‘Add to my page’ (top left)d). Go back to your page (Account -> Manage Pages -> select page. And then click on edit.e). Click application settings and select the option to add as a tab.f). Now you can add some content so click on the edit box.g). Now you can enter in whatever you want to appear in this page. This could be just a graphic image. The code you put in is FBML which is Facebook Mark up language. This is basically a reduced version of HTML. So for example, if you wanted to show a image which tries to convince people to sign up to the page because of special offers you have you could put in the following code:Box Title: Special OffersFBML:http: //www.website.com/specialoffers.jpg>h). Now you just have to make it the default landing page that is displayed when non fans arrive at your page. Under the administration section (after you click edit page on the main screen) select the option wall settings and select edit. Select the option ‘default landing page for everyone else’ and select ‘special offers’. This will now be displayed instead of the wall. There you go, try it out, get some more fans!
